Amino acids: Lysine
L-Lysine is one of the essential amino acids, which cannot be synthesized in the body.
Lysine, an amino acid produced by means of fermentation and used as an animal feed ingredient, is purified by extracting the broth's lysine content with Cation resin and exclusion of other components present in the fermentation broth.
The purification of Lysine with ion exchange was not well known in the industry as it required very large batch columns.
Because of the high value of the product these designs were tolerated.
By using the ION-IX technology for lysine purification, resin inventory and utilities are highly reduced.
